Where our information comes from — and how it is checked.
Source hierarchy
- Peer-reviewed veterinary literature (journals, textbooks) — highest weight.
- University veterinary schools & extension services (e.g., Cornell, UC Davis).
- Poison-control & regulatory data (ASPCA Poison Control, FDA/CVM).
- Professional guidelines (AAHA, WSAVA, NRC nutrient profiles).
- Manufacturer/label data — for product-specific facts, cross-checked where possible.
Review process
Every health article passes: (1) live-source research with dated evidence notes, (2) a structured content brief, (3) drafting against the brief, (4) independent red-team check for safety and accuracy, (5) pre-publish QA.
Veterinary review status
We are actively establishing formal review partnerships with qualified veterinary professionals. Articles and tools that require clinical sign-off are withheld from publication until that review is documented — including all toxicity calculators. We will never claim “vet-reviewed” without a real reviewer who actually reviewed the piece.
